The Travel & Leisure Committee works with a number of other senior groups in the north country to plan outings, trips and events for its members.  Because of that, it is quite important that you make arrangements/reservations as early as possible so that you won't be closed out of the event.

Plans for 2026
5 days, 4 nights in Montreal & Quebec City ... June 8 - 12, 2026
Gayla LaPage is the current RENY State President, as well as president of the northern zone.  She has organized a travel group through White Star Tours.  We are in discussion with her in regard to our members "tagging along"!  The only down side of this particular tour is that our Spring Scholarship Luncheon is during the time this trip will be happening.  The attached graphic pretty much says it all.  Please contact Gayla by phone or e-mail if you are interested.  Click here to download this document in printable .pdf format.  The flyer indicates that a passport is required.  Please note that an enhanced license will also be fine.  This just in ... There are a number of pick-up points on the route in St. Lawrence County and points north.  For members of our zone, arrangements can be made for pick-up points in Jefferson County along I-81 and US Route 11.

June 9 ... A show at the REV Theater in Auburn
In conjunction with other senior groups that we work with, a trip is planned to see the musical A Bronx Tale at the REV Merry-Go-Round theater in Auburn.  As is typical with the trips to this theater, the price will include transportation to and from the venue, the price of tickets to the show and dinner at Lasca's Restaurant in Auburn.  The cost of this is $125 per person.  If you are interested, please contact Cheryl Matson at 315-778-6014 or David Schryver at 315-486-1408 or davidjschryver@gmail.com for more information or to express your interest.

June 17 ...  Waterfall hiking excursion ... Rain date, June 24
Due to the success and reception of the past few waterfall hikes, we are ready for the 2026 edition.  As always, these are "hikes for the non-hiker"!  The longest one will be less than 1/4 mile round-trip and most have roadside views.

We will start with falls in the Lowville area and proceed toward the southern end of Lewis County before heading for a number of other sites in Oneida County.  Full details will be provided at next spring's scholarship luncheon.

As usual, we will be having lunch along the route.  At this time, the plan is to visit the Capri Pizzeria in Boonville.  The cost of this will be each participant's responsibility.  Of course, in what has become a tradition, we will close out our trip with a stop at a local ice cream stand.  Our assistant chairperson, Kathy Allan keeps that detail under wraps until the day of the event.  Contact David Schryver at 315-486-1408 or davidjschryver@gmail.com for more information or to sign up.

NOTE ... This event is a carpool type of thing.  It is somewhat weather dependent, so these trips have been known to be postponed but will not be cancelled.  Reservations will be taken right up to the day of the event.

ANOTHER NOTE ... For those not familiar with these hikes, your guide needs you to understand something.  Our participants have been saying for several years that they have a lot of fun on these outings, they get to visits spots in the north country that they are not usually familiar with and they get some exercise.  In reality, I think that some people go on them because we always have a nice lunch at a quaint local diner and then stop at an ice cream shop at the end of the day!

July 15 ... A trip to Frederic Remington Museum in Ogdensburg
We are tentatively planning a trip to the Frederic Remington Museum in Ogdensburg for July 15.

Details are being worked out.  If there is interest, it looks like we can do this for $25 a person, $15 for each driver.  This will include the admission to the museum and cost of transportation.  Needless to say, we will include a lunch/dinner, depending upon the time of day we go.  The cost of this will be the responsibility of each participant.

Full details will be posted at a later date.  Contact David Schryver at 315-486-1408 or davidjschryver@gmail.com for more information or to express your interest.

September 14-18 ... A trip to Maine
In conjunction with other senior groups that we work with, a 5 day, 4 night trip is planned to the state of Maine.  More details will be posted when they are available.  If you are interested, please contact Cheryl Matson at 315-778-6014 or David Schryver at 315-486-1408 or davidjschryver@gmail.com for more information or to express your interest.

October 1 ... A show at the REV Theater
In conjunction with other senior groups that we work with, a trip is planned to see the musical Rock of Ages at the REV Merry-Go-Round theater in Auburn.
