2025 Scholarship Award Winners |
The North Central Zone of Retired Educators of New
York is pleased to announce that we have three recipients of
this year's awards.
Gracielynn
Black is the daughter of Harry & Miranda Black and
Julia Moffatt & Corey Dangerfield. She lives
in Port Leyden and attends South Lewis High School.
Gracielynn plans on attending Jefferson Community
College majoring in Elementary Special Education. |

Anthony Lasage is the son of Todd & Carrie Lasage. He lives in Brownville and attends General Brown High School. Anthony plans on attending JCC and then SUNY Potsdam, majoring in Secondary Social Studies Education. |

Lillian Marra is the daughter of
Timothy & Angela Marra. She lives in Adams and
attends Sough Jefferson High School. Lillian plans
on attending SUNY Brockport, majoring in Elementary
Education. |

These recipients will be honored at the RENYNCZ Annual
Spring Scholarship Banquet in Watertown on June 19.

A new slate of officers was elected for 2024-2025 at our Fall Business
Luncheon on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at
the Hilton Garden Inn, 1290 Arsenal Street,
Watertown.

NCZ/RENY Spring Scholarship Luncheon |
The North Central Zone of
the Retired Educators of New York (RENY) will hold a Scholarship
Luncheon on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the Hilton
Garden Inn, 1290 Arsenal Street, Watertown.
Registration and
social time will start at 10 AM followed by a brief business
meeting and introduction of our 2025 scholarship winners. Please
come and meet Gracielynn Black, a graduating senior from South
Lewis Central School, Anthony LaSage who is a graduating senior
from General Brown Central School, and Lillian Marra, a
graduating senior from South Jefferson Central School. These
outstanding students will be presented with this year’s NCZ
Scholarships for Future Educators. These $1,000 awards are given
in partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation.
A
buffet luncheon will be served at 12 noon. After lunch, NCZ
member Diane Ferrucci will acquaint the audience with two tips
for “Aging Gracefully.” Our guest speaker, Michael Comet, is a
biology teacher from South Lewis Central School. Mr. Comet is an
Excellence in Teaching Award winner and a two-time winner of the
RENY Hudson-Kramer Award. He will present his work on a bee
observation hive and the progress made setting up honey
harvesting capabilities.
Registration forms for the luncheon will
be mailed to members. Paid reservations are due by June 9.
Any retired educator or school staff retiree who is not yet a
member of RENY is welcome to attend.
